Sheridan came on short notice and after hours to restore power to our home on a frigid night. Sheridan told me his plan up front and worked very efficiently to restore safe electrical power to our home. He serviced the main electrical panel and reestablishing our negative to our service panel, making it safe to turn our electric back on. Sheridan worked up to midnight to ensure the job was complete. He was more than fair on his pricing for the service and made suggestions on other safety items to address for our home in the near future. He took the time to do digging and testing to find out what needed to be done to fix the problem. He was probably there for three hours. He also identified an unsafe situation that a previous contractor had left when he did some work and talked to the contractor to explain what needed to be redone and why. Went out of his way to make sure I understood everything that needed to be done and gave me an estimate on the spot as to what needed done and when it could be completed – I was on his schedule within 6 days.

Sheridan installed new panel.and outdoor meter. Also upgraded wire to hot water tank and replaced bathroom fan. Does quality work and dependable.

During the first week of May we lost all 240 amp capabilities thru out our Cabin built in 1978. The very old electrical panel needed to be completely replaced. My insurance coverage did not cover problems considered "Pre-existing" in the old panel and that was there response! They would not cover the panel and it was my responsibility to replace it. A lot of electrical questions had to be answered and quickly. The electrical configuration of the Cabin had been maintained by the prior owner and there was lets say quite a bit of "dangerous creativity" in how the house, barn and hot tub had been wired. What were the new code requirements? Was I bound by any new requirements in Lancaster or AEP connections after all the electrical was 37 years old. <br /> I'm retired and living on a fixed income each month. And the cabin has terrible heat and humidity issues without air conditioning. Like most folks in my situation I sought out several word of mouth electricians to look at the panel hoping to get the best I could with the funds available. <br /> <br /> The first electrician tossed around a $3700 figure, then simply stating that it was more than he could handle, apologized and left. <br /> The second electrician said he would go back and work up an estimate and submit it that evening via email, It never came. Again it seemed to be the age of the panel. Three weeks had past since the outage and the weather was a real problem. <br /> I needed a Professional Electrician who was willing to answer my questions and had the customer centered business model that dealt as much with safety as it did in ensuring that we met all electrical requirements of 2015 as compared to when the panel was put in — 1978. <br /> I contacted Sheridan Smith aka Fairfield's Mr. Electric on Angie's list after reviewing the Band of Neighbors review's for the Lancaster area. He came out on Sunday and reviewed the situation providing an estimate the same day, which included options and a very precise and clear explanation of each. He dealt with all the entities who would be involved in the complete replacement of the panel, ensuring that all electrical work was up to code. He dealt with the city of Lancaster, coordinated with AEP on shutoff and restoration of main power. He purchased all parts after approval of the various plan's options. <br /> He scheduled the implementation for June 10th. Showed up on time and went to work. He was very efficient, working the plan as he and I had discussed. By the end of the day, around 7:30 or so we had a completely new "life time" warranty 200 amp Panel and an explanation of what had caused the failure (besides the 0ld unit) no prior electrician had any idea why the insurer called it a prior existing condition that was not covered. <br /> Total cost $2600,00 Only estimate I got was for $3700.00. Sheridan really worked with me thru out the process, he was very accommodating and open, he listened intently to my concerns, he took the time to pass along information and knowledge that that is and will be very helpful to me in the future in understanding my Cabins "creative" electrical wiring schema.
