  • This problem is often due to a wiring issue, especially if the switch is humming or popping. If that’s not the issue, the switch and the light bulbs in the fixture might be incompatible.

  • If a dimmer switch gets hot when it’s activated, there could be a short in the switch, or the switch may be overloaded. This situation can pose a fire hazard, so keep the switch turned off until your local Mr. Electric can inspect it.
