  • Mr. Electric of Northwest Houston specializes in both commercial and residential services. Commercial lighting differs from residential lighting in that it is specially designed to illuminate your business premises for various kinds of commercial activity, including sales, manufacturing, and more. We offer a variety of custom lighting solutions for companies in Texas, including multiple colors, designs, and intensities. Ballast bulb replacement is a service offered only to commercial customers. Ballasts are used with fluorescent lights, which limits the current to those bulbs to prevent burnout and overheating. We match ballasts to the type of bulbs they operate. While we also offer residential fluorescent bulbs, the commercial versions create more heat and produce stronger magnetic interference than their household counterparts. Fluorescent ballast and bulb replacement requires the services of a licensed electrician to protect against electronic interference and fire hazards.

  • When selecting the type of lighting for your commercial space, make sure to take performance and energy efficiency into account. Upgrading your lighting to the latest technology can cut your energy usage from lighting in half. We can help you select the best fixture for your needs. Our professional electricians can then handle installation, which makes a significant difference in the performance of your lights. Mr. Electric of Northwest Houston handles many types of lighting, including:

The Different Types of Commercial Light Bulbs

The light bulb types suitable for your business depend on your industry and what you want to achieve. Mr. Electric of Northwest Houston's team of electricians is happy to help you make the best choice for your business' lighting. Check out your options:

  • Incandescent - These bulbs use older technology, making them less efficient than newer bulb options. Incandescent bulbs are best suited for task lighting that requires high brightness. The main types of incandescent light bulbs are general service/standard, xenon, and reflectorized. The Department of Energy has mandated that incandescent light bulbs produce the same amount of light using less wattage than before 2012.
  • Halogen - Halogen light bulbs are twice as efficient as incandescent bulbs and produce bright white light. These lights are commonly used in outdoor applications like stadium lighting and security upgrades.
  • Fluorescent - The most commonly used commercial lighting solution is fluorescent and compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), which use substantially less electricity than incandescent bulbs. Fluorescent bulbs last 10 times as long and produce the same amount of light as incandescent lights. Using CFLs in standard light sockets can save energy compared to incandescent bulbs. Be careful to dispose of fluorescents properly as they contain mercury.
  • HID/Metal Halide - High-intensity discharge (HID) bulbs are considered an extremely efficient option for large spaces requiring bright light. HID lights do not produce pleasant colors and are typically only used in commercial and industrial applications or warehouses – not residences.
  • LED - These light bulbs last longer and use less energy than other types. Light-emitting diodes use 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and will burn for about 35 to 50 times as long.
