To discover which U.S. destinations are the most accommodating for EV travelers, we turned to Airbnb to determine which cities have the most Airbnb listings with EV charging stations and which are the most and least affordable.
Key Findings
- Five cities (Lakeland, FL, Orlando, FL, Miami, FL, Las Vegas, NV, and Los Angeles, CA) maxed out the Airbnb search results with having over 1,000 Airbnb listings offering EV chargers.
- Nationally, the average cost of a one-night stay in an EV-friendly Airbnb is $268.85 and the average rating is 4.88 stars out of 5.
- El Paso, Texas ($88.21), and Jackson, Mississippi ($88.75), are the only cities with an average nightly cost of EV-friendly Airbnbs under $100.
- Of the 100 most populated cities in the U.S., the average city has 2.66 EV chargers per square mile. Miami, FL, Allentown, PA, and Lakeland, FL, have the most EV chargers per square mile ranging between 15 and 28.

Los Angeles distinguishes itself with over 1,000 EV-friendly Airbnb listings. Methodology
To identify the best cities in the U.S. with EV-friendly Airbnbs, we started with a list of the 100 most populous cities. Then, we identified three factors to analyze: the number of Airbnb listings with EV chargers, the average cost of Airbnbs with EV chargers, and the average star rating (out of 5) of Airbnbs with EV chargers.
According to the data, we assigned cities with a score of 0 to 5 for each factor, in which 5 represents the most favorable conditions for that factor. After calculating factor scores, we determined each city’s total score from the total of its individual factor scores, which were weighted according to their impact on EV-friendly Airbnb. Individual factor scores were then added together to give each city a final score from 0 to 15. Higher scores indicate the cities best suited to accommodate EVs with their Airbnbs.*
*Please note the following: an "EV-friendly Airbnb" is defined as one that has direct access to a charging port at the stay. The cost is based on the average cost of a one-night stay, before taxes & fees, in each city.
