Level 1
Level 1 charging uses a 120 VAC standard outlet. Time from fully depleted to fully charged takes anywhere from 7 to 29+ hours depending on the vehicle. This typically is provided with your electric vehicle.
Level 2
Level 2 charger uses 240 VAC dedicated circuit. This work needs to be performed by a certified Electrician. This dedicated circuit allows for EV owners to charge their car 3 - 5X faster (2 - 7 hours).
Utility Information
Electric vehicles are great for the environment and help you save money on gas. Did you know that you can also cut down on the cost of charging your car by using time of use rates from your energy company? Time of use rates are a great way to not only save money on charging your car, but to save money on your whole energy bill by using energy at non-peak times. The chart below gives you an idea of when it's most efficient to charge your electric vehicle if you are using Time of Use rates. Since all of the electricity that you use in your house is measured by one meter, all of your electricity cost will fluctuate depending on what time of day you use it. Time of day is very important, and when it comes to charging your car, you can set the timer of your charger so that you charge it during Super Off-peak hours. Check your energy company for specific details and for price estimates.
