This past Saturday, our Mr. Electric of Huntsville team proudly joined the community for the Liz Hurley Ribbon Run 5K in downtown Huntsville!
Each year, this incredible event brings together thousands of runners, walkers, survivors, and supporters to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and care through the Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s Breast Center. It’s a morning filled with energy, hope, and unity — and this year’s event was especially meaningful for our team.
💕 Honoring Liz Hurley’s Legacy
The Liz Hurley Ribbon Run began after WAFF 48 News anchor Liz Hurley was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998. Her journey and openness about her experience inspired a wave of awareness throughout North Alabama. Determined to make a difference, Liz partnered with the Huntsville Hospital Foundation to create the Ribbon Run - an annual 5K that now raises hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to fund advanced technology, early detection, and treatment programs for breast cancer patients in our community.
For more than two decades, the Ribbon Run has become one of Huntsville’s largest and most inspiring charity events. Each pink shirt and every step taken represent not just fundraising, but the fight for early detection, improved care, and hope for survivors. Liz’s strength and advocacy continue to shine as a beacon of courage for women and families across North Alabama. She has changed many lives, and her legacy will continue for many years to come with all the research, equipment and programs this fundraiser has provided in our community.

💪 Team Mr. Electric Walks for Jessie
This year’s event carried a deeply personal meaning for our Mr. Electric family. One of our own team members, Jessie, is currently battling breast cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. Despite the challenges she’s facing, Jessie and her husband joined us for the walk. She amazed us all by walking a full mile before her husband lovingly pulled her in a wagon for the rest of the route; a moment that brought smiles and cheers from everyone around them. Her completing this race was a beautiful sight… overcoming obstacles with the support of our loved ones. They carry us in the hardest of times. What a lovely reminder that she is not alone in her fight.
Her courage and determination remind all of us what true strength looks like. Jessie’s positivity, even in the face of such a tough battle, continues to inspire everyone around her. To show up even when it is hard physically, with a smile on her face, is a battle itself. It was a testimony of her and her bravery in this fight. We walked for her, and for every family touched by breast cancer. 💗

🌟 Lighting the Way Forward
At Mr. Electric of Huntsville, we believe in lighting the way forward - whether that means keeping homes safe and bright or helping shine a light on causes that impact our neighbors. Our participation in community events like the Liz Hurley Ribbon Run reflects one of our core Neighborly values: doing good in the communities we serve.

We couldn’t be prouder to stand beside Jessie, the survivors, and the countless individuals who fight, support, and love through this journey. Events like these remind us that community is about showing up for one another… in big ways and small.
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who came out, donated, volunteered, and cheered on participants this year. Together, we’re helping power hope for a brighter, healthier future for everyone in our community. We make a difference by every step we take so let our strides be for a good cause.
