Get Familiar With the Types of Chargers
Electric vehicles require different chargers depending on your driving habits. While some people might get by with plugging in overnight, others need a more advanced way of charging their car for the day. Our team will help you determine which of these three EV chargers is best for your needs:
Level 1 Charger
Level 1 chargers are the standard for most electric vehicles. They can be plugged into any typical three-pronged outlet and require no lengthy installation process. However, Level 1 chargers work very slowly and could take up to 20 hours to complete a full charge. They're best used for overnight charging.
Level 2 Charger
If you want something a little more advanced, consider a Level 2 charger. These chargers require their own dedicated 240-volt circuits and must be professionally installed. While they're more challenging to set up, Level 2 chargers have several perks, such as faster charging times. You could have a full charge in just three hours! As EVs become more popular, manufacturers are beginning to include Level 2s as the standard.
Level 3 Charger
A Level 3 charger is what you'll find at public charging stations. With unparalleled charging capacity, it's no wonder these are popular outside public buildings. They can add up to 160 miles of driving range to an EV's battery with just a half hour on the charger. However, they have an industrial-level power draw and aren't safe for homes. But, if you're planning to install a charger at your Huntsville business, Level 3 is the way to go!
