  • You will want to choose the right type of EV charger based on your driving habits. Many EV owners can get by with a Level 1 charger, but if you find yourself needing to recharge your vehicle in the middle of the day, it might be a wise investment to have a Level 2 EV charger installed. We can help you choose the best EV charger based on your individual needs.

What Is an EVSE Charger for Your Home?

EVSE chargers supply electric energy to conveniently recharge electric vehicles from the comfort of your home. There are three levels of electric vehicle charging devices we have available, including:

  • Level 1 Charger – The Level 1 charger comes standard with most electric vehicles and can be plugged into any normal three-prong outlet. It requires no installation, but it charges vehicle batteries slowly. Level 1 EVSE chargers are best for overnight use and can take 20 hours or more to reach a full charge.
  • Level 2 Charger – The Level 2 charger is a bit more advanced and requires its own dedicated 240-volt circuit, which needs to be professionally installed by a licensed electrician in your garage. Level 2 chargers will bring your vehicle to a full charge much faster (about three hours), and a growing number of electric vehicle manufacturers include a Level 2 charger with each new car purchase.
  • Level 3 Charger – The Level 3 charger is the standalone device you’ve probably seen at public EV charging stations. They can add 160 miles of driving range to a vehicle’s battery in about 30 minutes. However, they have an industrial-level power draw that makes them unavailable to homeowners. If you own or work at an industrial building, it may be possible to have a Level 3 charger installed there.
  • When you have a Level 2 charger installed in your home by the professionals at Mr. Electric of Chesterfield, you can expect them to:

    • Fully inspect all the equipment before installation
    • Perform a site inspection to ensure equipment is installed following manufacturer specifications
    • Upgrade your electrical system, including a new dedicated 40-amp, 240-volt circuit with 8-AWG wiring to support the quicker-charging Level 2 charger
    • Install your EVSE equipment to conform to all National Electrical Code and local permit/code requirements
    • Verify equipment is functioning properly in its operational environment
    • Complete EVSE information provided to the customer on equipment features, correct usage, limitations, necessary maintenance, and warranty terms
  • EV Charger Installation and Replacement

When it comes to charging up your new EV in half the time, there’s nothing better than a Level 2 charger. And when it comes to installing a fast, efficient Level 2 home charger in your garage, driveway, or carport, you can trust the licensed electricians at your local Mr. Electric®.

  • EV Charger Repair and Service

Whatever brand of charging station you have, Mr. Electric can repair all components for your home charging station, including: power control units (PCU), battery monitoring systems (BMS), converters, power modules, cords, rectifiers, and dispensers.
